Abstract There is no doubt about the relevance of the application of gender mainstreaming as a strategic mechanism for the pursuit of gender equality. In line with SDG 5, governments, the private sector, international institutions, and society at large are all striving to mainstream gender in their operations. As part of the UNU system, the UNU-EGOV has joined in this global effort and adapted its management, administrative and research operations to include a gender mainstreaming approach. This report details the state of affairs of gender mainstreaming at the UNU-EGOV and recommends the need for a gender mainstreaming approach in research which seems to be lacking in the Unit.
