Abstract The 15th International Conference on Theory and Practice of Electronic Governance - ICEGOV 2022 was held in Guimarães, Portugal, from 4 to 7 October 2022. After two editions heavily hampered by the COVID-19 pandemic – fully online in 2020 and hybrid in 2021 – the conference returned to an almost entirely on-site, face-to-face event, with very few remote participants, which is a clear sign of a step forwards towards a pre-pandemic reality. The conference was held under the High Patronage of His Excellency, the President of the Portuguese Republic, with the Portuguese Administrative Modernization Agency as the Patron. The University of Minho co-organised ICEGOV 2022 with the United Nations University Operating Unit on Policy-Driven Electronic Governance (UNU-EGOV), which is the conference series coordinator . The conference organisation was also supported by the Norte Portugal Regional Operational Programme (NORTE 2020) as Sponsor. A range of Supporters played an essential role as well in the organisation of the conference: the Association for Computing Machinery Inc., Centro Cultural Vila Flor, CONVIN S.A. – Professional Conference Organiser, Coro Encanto, Digital Government Authority of Saudi Arabia, EIT Urban Mobility (Co-funded by the European Union), International Conference Proceedings Series, Fantoffice, Município de Guimarães, Tablet Comunitário, and Tayarisha – African Centre of Excellence in Digital Governance. Under the theme Digital Governance for Social, Economic, and Environmental Prosperity, ICEGOV 2022 focused on contributing to the debate, reflection, knowledge generation, and systematisation and sharing on how digital technologies can be effectively harnessed to foster prosperity and development. At the same time, the conference contributed towards a more inclusive, just, resilient, and trustworthy world where no one is left behind, in a tight and proper alignment with the discussions and actions that have been instigated and promoted by the United Nations Secretary-General and the Member-States. The focus on this particular theme was brought to light as Social, Economic, and Environmental Prosperity are universally noble ideals for the Peoples, being elements of capital relevance to societies’ progress and sustainable development. The role of governance and government institutions in achieving this trilogy of prosperity dimensions is unquestionable. Also unquestionable is the basilar and catalysing role of Digital Technologies in transforming and improving government operations and governance mechanisms. Thus, ICEGOV 2022 aimed to contribute to a deeper understanding of the potential approaches and solutions to address the challenges of today’s world, not least in light of the 2030 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, by exploiting the continuously increasing capabilities offered by digital technologies.
