It stems from two issues. First, the forces of globalization are perhaps the most important factors that affect the current environment for economic development. Second, there are lessons from Southeast Asian experiences that policy-makers in sub-Saharan Africa could adapt to their own contexts. These lessons stem both from Southeast Asia's era of rapid growth as well as from the current economic crisis. In this report, we highlight three underlying issues and eight key lessons.
