The papers included in this volume provide an overview of the desertification problems and the challenges in China and describe in detail the integrated land management activities undertaken. A good comparison of these activities is made in papers devoted to other regions of the world, including those on Ghana, India, Jordan, Kenya, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Tunisia, and Uzbekistan.
