    Abstract This report is the final product of the EU-GRASP research project that was conceived to contribute towards the understanding and articulation of the current and future role of the EU as a global actor in multilateral security governance, in a challenged multilateral environment. The project examined the notion and practice of multilateralism and security in order to provide an adequate theoretical background for assessing the EU’s current security activities at different levels of cooperation, ranging from bilateralism to inter-regionalism and multilateralism, and their inter-linkages.
