Abstract The Sustainable CYCLES team has collaborated with the PBL Netherlands Environmental Assessment Agency to conduct a study on the Potential effects of Dutch circular economy strategies on low- and middle-income countries for electrical and electronic equipment. The main findings are that one fifth of Dutch e-waste (including second hand items) is exported. Of this, a quarter is exported illegally, illustrating that the transition towards a circular economy in the EU requires an inclusive approach.
