It reviews irrigation and soil management techniques, performance assessment of irrigation as well as water delivery scheduling for irrigated agriculture. Water scarcity and drought may even jeopardize that irrigation infrastructure could be deployed to offset threatening economic losses. The chapter emphasizes the need for careful afforestation planning to avoid aggravating water shortage downstream. Finally, constructed wetlands are introduced as a low cost wastewater treatment technology with other positive spin off effects. UNBIS Thesaurus IRRIGATION
