Abstract	Colombian relations with the European Union on the issue of illegal drugs take place largely within the context of the “Specialized Dialogue on Drugs between the Andean Community and the European Union”, of which Colombia is currently co-president. Based upon an inter-regional approach, the central question addressed in this article is how cooperation between the two regional blocs contributes to confronting this phenomenon? To this end, the author outlines the general international structure for combating illicit drugs and the specific policies of the European Union and the Andean Community. Next, the article identifies the actors, mechanisms and instruments at the disposal of the Euro-Andean dialogue on illicit drugs in order to examine their operation and role as an inter-regional space.
