    Abstract

What actions can be promoted to recognize and reduce risks for societies? This is the basic question the risk management GIRO framework looks at. The framework can be used to discover the connections between the actions of people, the risks that are generated and the subsequent disaster. With more and more extreme environmental events occurring worldwide, an understanding of the path to disasters is vital to protect vulnerable communities and their livelihoods.
