    Abstract This chapter makes the case for regional social policy and the emphasis countries should place on cross-border social policies. It provides conceptual evidence for the development of a strong regional dimension of regionalism as an alternative to the current pattern of globalization. The chapter also addresses some institutional issues related to the advancement of regional social policy. It finally assesses progress to date and suggests that the time is ripe to pursue this agenda.
