How is knowledge produced and who is it useful for? Why is the knowledge society threatening to fall into ignorance? How can researchers propose alternative ways of acquiring knowledge and what are the responses and aspirations of the ‘2.0 individuals’? These and many more questions were guiding the V Training Seminar of the Forum of Young Researchers in Intercultural Dynamics (FJIDI) of CIDOB which, under the title “Knowledge Politics and Intercultural dynamics: Actions, Innovations, Transformations”, took place in Barcelona on September 14th. This publication collects the papers and lectures given in this Forum. In the thematic blocks: categories and grammars of intercultural dynamics; strategies and resistance from the politics of knowledge; contemporary mobility and alterations; paths of culture and inculture, the young researchers explore in their articles the different political and social aspects of the production of knowledge, giving special attention to the role of non-traditional knowledge sources and means of knowledge diffusion and processing. A thorough debate develops along the texts on the difficulties and limitations of knowledge and the possibility of opening up new spaces for intercultural dynamics. Discussing actions, innovations and transformations, the participants of the Forum reflect on the relationship between methodological research methods and the construction of a particular form of knowledge –or with other words the relationship between the researcher and the knowledge he or she creates. As a guiding line, the Forum follows the work of Mieke Bal, who is present in this book with her keynote speech, exploring the space of intercultural dynamics through her films and coining the notions of “extranjerías”.
